where have all the new posts gone?

errrrr...i have a new addiction. it's called istockphoto.com. i upload pictures to this website and then wait for their band of experts to examine my photographs for technical skill and marketability. if they approve the photos, the pictures are posted online. then i wait for business folk and wealthy web surfers to purchase my wares. for each download i receive a 20% cut. so far i've made forty cents! check me out--buy some photos!

Cool beans! And cool pictures. I heard about this website and thought about putting my pictures up but you have to get up to a total of $100 before they send you a check. $.40 you are nearly there, good luck.

A fellow 5th Hiller (the year after you) Mr. Dan Roundhill has participated in this same website and got his $100 after 218 downloads. CHeck out his blog entries about it at:

hmmm...interesting. i don't expect to make much money--perhaps i'll hit the $100 mark after a few decades--instead it's just another incentive to finish my pictures. there are some crappy photographs on istockphoto.com, but even the suckiest picture must be run through a picture critique process, and it's neat to get some feedback on your pictures (e.g., too many artifacts, too much blur, etc.) also, i'm a big advocate for venues that display my art but in an unforced, humble way; i don't like to push my art on others, but if there's a way that i can show off quietly, i'm all for that. thus, the blog and thus, the istockphoto account. now if only there were a venue for amateur piano.
