"wrong route: the way of smooth rock, loose dirt, and no hand holds" the ridge below black peak, north cascades, wa. in the pictures, that incline doesn't look so bad. in fact, it looks like you could almost walk right up it. you can't. trust me, it really was steeeeeeep. yep, if someone from the17pointscale had slipped, he'd be mangled or dead...but i'll save that for another post.

That sounds like a close call. You guys must be in shape to be able to climb that big mountain.

Where do I get one of those 'life saving devices'? This "Black Peak" sounds dangerous! Who in the right mind would go there?
